New Families
Welcome new cub scout family! Follow these steps to get your cub scout registered and complete everything you need to get your Adventure On!
- Register with BSA
- Scoutbook Your scout’s progress and rank will be tracked in Scoutbook.
- Registration & Dues
BSA registration is included in the Pack annual dues. There is a separate new Scout fee. - Youth Protection Training
- All parents should take YPT training. It’s good for two years.

- Uniform
Field uniforms are worn to Pack meetings; formal ceremonies; or in community representing Scouting. Activity uniforms are worn during camp outs, and other less formal events or public events.- The “Field Uniform” is the official/formal uniform. Pack 61 will provide the Neckerchief & Slide.
- Uniform is based on age and rank. Navy blue (cubs) or olive green (Arrow of Light Cub Scouts; AOL)
- Families can donate uniforms or uniform parts at any meeting. We also have a Facebook group, Pack 61 Uniform and Equipment Exchange.
- Get a new uniform or scout gear from any of the following locations:
- The closest location for a new uniform is Woods & Water Outdoors (124 Edwards Ave, Brandon, FL 33510). Note: patches are not pre-sewn.
- Greater Tampa Bay Area Council office and Tampa Scout Shop (13228 North Central Ave.
Tampa, Florida 33612) - Order Online through the Scoutshop
- The “Activity Uniform” consists of a custom T-shirt. Contact your Den leader if you didn’t order one during registration. One shirt is provided to new scouts by Pack61.
- The “Field Uniform” is the official/formal uniform. Pack 61 will provide the Neckerchief & Slide.
- Medical Form
- Please provide 2 copies for each person camping. One for the Pack and one for the Den. Medical forms are good for one year.

Please have wagon sales completed by October 19th to return excess popcorn to the Pack.
Scout Sales above the quota is credited to individual Scout account and can be used to pay for annual dues and pay-as-you-go expenses.
- Let the Treasurer know you would like to deduct credit from your scout’s account after fundraising. You will need to submit a copy of the itemized receipt to receive a refund from your scout’s account. Fundraising will help scouts pay these expenses:
- Membership Dues
- Pay-as-you-go Expenses will be incurred throughout the year to assist in covering costs of Pack camping trips and summertime activity events.
- Uniforms
- Other Expenses such as camping equipment or pitching in to buy food.
